My 2003 had a fault light come on and the code was the p0442. A new Stant gas cap from the local auto parts store fixed it. Just change it to eliminate the cap as a problem for something like $13.00.

I had this issue with my 2015 Jeep Renegade and had to replace the filler neck because of it is loose it can leak fuel and yes it will cause an small EVAP leak code P0456. I am still having the light come on even though the filler neck has been replaced and the sensor itself.

Turns out the test port for the EVAP system is missing the plug that blocks it off from the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the dealer didn't have the part in stock and wants to charge me another $150 to put it in and do another test.
